An Award Winning Plant - The blackhaw Viburnum

July 31st, 2008

HHF has awarded Shade Tree Farms with its plant of the month
award for best plant for its Blackhaw Viburnums. This is an
excellent plant for your landscape. The Blackhaw viburnum
(Viburnum Prunifolium) could be considered a plant for
beginners. Every landscape should have at least one viburnum,
why not the Blackhaw? I don’t know how you can make a mistake
with this plant, but, perhaps it is possible. This plant will be
adaptable to many soil types; shaded or sunny, and can do well
in dry soils. This article give a brief introduction to this
interesting landscape plant. With its rounded, stiffly branched
habit the Blackhaw Viburnum reminds you of a Hawthorn. It is a
very easy plant to grow. It can be purchased as a seedling, a
rooted cutting, a potted starter plant in qt. pots, to 5 gal.
pots, and B&B field dug plants. In your landscape it can be a
small tree because plants attains a height of 12 to 14 feet. The
Blachhaw Viburnum has dark green, glossy, leathery leaves turn a
dark reddish to purple in the fall. It is an attractive leaf.
This viburnum has creamy white flowers are borne in flat-topped
flower clusters during May. The fruit turns blue-black at
maturity. The fruit of this viburnum, which is sweet and edible,
is nearly half an inch long, bluish black, covered with a bloom,
and ripens in early autumn. It contains a small and somewhat
flattened stone. The mature fruit makes good preserves. It is
ripe when it turns black. The leaves are small enough that they
don’t pose a raking and cleaning problem. Birds frequent this
shrub for feed and shelter. Plants are native and tolerate shade
but flower and fruit best in full sun. Habitat and range: The
blackhaw viburnum occurs in dry woods and thickets and on rocky
hillsides from Connecticut to Florida and west to Michigan and
Texas, but is mostly found in the South. I have never seen a
native Blackhaw Viburnum in our county (Bucks County, Pa. ) that
occurred naturally. It will still thrive in the soils around
Solebury Pa. On our plant durability list, we rate this a 9 for
ease of transplanting and site adaptability. There are also few
serious pests that homeowners need to concern themselves with.
We have many deer on our nursery and we have not seen much deer
damage to this plant by deer feeding on this plant. You can call
us or visit our web site for more information on other
Viburnums. See HTTP://www.zone5trees.com

Motivation: You Can Be Successful!

July 27th, 2008

Staying motivated and focused is essential to your business. Remember those goals you wrote down? You did write them down, didn’t you?? Good! Think about those goals, and about where you want to be a year from now, ten years from now. Every moment between now and then is an opportunity to move closer to the goals you’ve set for yourself.

Now, I want you to think about how you spend your time. What are you going to do for the next hour? Is it going to move you closer toward your goal? Picture yourself wasting the next hour, wasting this next year, and then think about how you’re going to feel when you haven’t achieved what you set out to do. Regret is a powerful motivator.

Now think about what would happen if you use your time wisely. If you follow your plan of action and keep focused on your goals. Picture yourself living out your dreams and think how good it will feel a year from now, ten years from now, when you can do just that! It can happen! You can be successful!

Ok, so now you’ve got your vision focused on success. You’re motivated to see your dreams become reality! You start networking, emailing some people, maybe placing an ad or two. You get a few responses but nobody seems really interested. You’re doing everything right but it still doesn’t seem to be working. You’re getting a little discouraged. Things aren’t moving along as fast as you thought they would. Don’t worry!! As I said before, this is a temporary condition! There are going to be some slow times. The key is to find out what keeps you going and never give up! Sign up for a daily motivational email, chat with some of your team members, read an inspiring biography, whatever it takes to keep you focused and motivated is what you need to do! And remember, you are not alone!

“RH Macy failed 7 times before his store in New York caught on.

Novelist John Creasey got 753 rejections slips before he published the first of his 564 books.

Thomas Edison was thrown out of school in the early grades when teachers decided he could not do the work.

When Bob Dylan performed at a high school talent show, he was booed off the stage.” -Joe Griffith

No matter where you are in your life, no matter what obstacles stand in your way, you can become successful online! I guarantee that there is someone who has been where you are, that faced the same challenges that you may be facing, and they have found success!

Remember this important fact: If you have the right mindset, if you have your goals in place, you are already ahead of 90% of the people online!

The Simplest Ways To Make Money Online

July 25th, 2008

There are millions made daily online, through various programs, websites, and Internet businesses. Many people are taking their offline businesses online to tap into the online business world. Many shoppers these days are turning to online shopping for the ease and comfort of it, and this has created so many online business opportunities.

From grandparents to house wives, doctors to professors, computer technicians to working mothers, these are just a few of the many people turning to online business opportunities to either make extra income or supplement their existing income. Many working mothers for instance are leaving their full time jobs, and taking up home business so they can spend more time with their children. This is the main reason so many mothers choose to work at home.

They want to establish some type of financial standing while still being able to watch over and spend quality time with their children. Internet home business can be a great idea for stay at home mothers, as it provides a flexible schedule as well as the benefit of making money to supplement the family’s income and raising your kids at the same time.

Some examples of great ways to make money online are: owning a home business, completing surveys, selling on eBay, freelancing, selling from your own website, and reading emails. The benefits of owning an online business are immense, when done the right way, or can be very difficult if you are not dedicated. Anyone interested in making money online should carefully consider the steps necessary to do this.

Starting an online business is not difficult, but selecting the right product to sell online is key to becoming successful. One of the key decisions to making money online is choosing the right product to market. Without the right product, and your online business is already starting off on the wrong foot. Therefore, in order to make money online, it is a good idea to always select a product that is not already saturated in the market. This will require some considerable amount of research on your part.

One of the ways to determine which products have already reached their saturation level, is to look out for ads for these products, as they will be shown on almost every website. Since many other people are offering them for sale, the chances are, this product would not make money online as the supply for the product far outweighs demand. However, it is a better idea to not only research a product that appeals to a large number of people, but also such a product should only be advertised by a small amount of people. This will increase your chance of making money online.

Researching and finding such a product is the biggest obstacle facing most people who want to setup online businesses. It is a good idea to always consider your hobbies and interest, as this will put you in a better position to answer questions and queries about your products. Many online pet shops for instance started with their owners having a passion for pets.

If you are still at a loss with what you want to sell, because your interests cannot be turned into profit making products that you can sell online, it is a good idea to consider selling the products of someone else to make money online.

Affiliate programs for instance are a legitimate way to make money online as they have become very popular with time. Some of the reasons why you should consider joining an affiliate program, are because it saves you the hassle of having to research and design your own products to sell.

Many of these programs, provide affiliates with resources such as a ready-made website to help affiliates market their products. And all you will have to do is to advertise these products to make money online.

Mobile Oil Change Company in Tucson, AZ; Viable Business?

July 24th, 2008

Would a mobile oil change company be viable in Tucson, AZ? Would that be a decent business to start there? Tucson is no longer a small populated area, as it sports nearly 500,000 in population and is growing North and West fairly rapidly.

Now then if you are interested in Mobile Oil Changes in Tucson, then yes well I know Tucson well, it is ripe for such a service and the area is growing too; Good idea. There are lots of business to be had I am certain for such a city and well then it appears you want some ideas on starting a mobile oil change business?

Okay, here is some interesting information for you; one thing I noticed about Tucson is that wages are really low, too low in fact, but if you run a business this means you can hire a helper as you get started or a crew for between $6-10 per hour. Even someone who maybe quite competent in auto motive services or even someone with experience working at a fixed site oil change facility.

Low labor costs makes the business even more viable, yet on the flip side of that thought; in Tucson this also means you have to charge slightly under the average Oil Change prices to compete you see? If you take an average of all mobile oil change companies and prices in the United States, you will see that Tucson will be on the lower end of that scale.

In the Tucson market, I like Oro Valley for a personal car market, downtown area, University area and the hospital area too. For fleets there is significant business to be had and also no one seems to be tapping into the RV markets there, which I found interesting enough? Consider all this in 2006.

Creative Acts

July 22nd, 2008

My earliest adventures in art read like a baby boomer’s TV guide. I began with “Winky-Dink,” an interactive show, in which viewers drew the starry hero to safety on a magic screen. I colored by number with luscious, Venus Paradise pencils. The official “John Gnagy” drawing kit presented me with authentic tools of the trade. (For those of you under 45, these things are now considered “vintage.”)

But there was something about my first camera that gave me a much grander experience of artistic vision… and with it a taste of autonomy. At the age of eleven a family friend gave me his old Brownie Bullet. Nothing unique, just another black, Kodak box. Not even a flash. Still, for me, it was an artifact from the adult world, given in trust, like the passing of a baton.

From the moment it was in my hands I was recording my world, both real and imagined. I went around sneaking candids of family and friends. Click. My father’s “grouchy” look. Click. The neighbor’s squalling kid. Click. My grandmother coming up the walk, all feminine grace.

In warm weather I was out on the porch, arranging my old “ginny” dolls in scenes of domestic bliss. Under the willow tree, I staged tableaus of my little sister, a living manikin, dressed in mother’s petticoats and pop-pit beads. Now bride, now widow. I became director, producer, costumer maker, putting frame after frame around my creations.

One winter I remember taking “action” stills of my best friend and her Flexible Flyer. A study in three acts. Lonely girl trudges up hill, dragging sled. Girl slides down hill, waving arms frantically. Girl lands at bottom, in an “arranged” heap, but triumphant. The visual joke was our “hill” was nothing but a small bump of snow in the backyard!

Last year, while preparing for a move to the city, I found the camera in its original box. I would have little space for memorabilia where I was going. In order to make room for the new life I had to let go of some of the past.

As I reflect on it, I feel touched that this small cherished object should, again, symbolize independence and artistic growth but in a different way. Now I, was passing the “baton,” trading up for a larger vision of myself, as an artist, as a teacher, as a person.

Creating Cutting Gardens

July 21st, 2008

Many perennials, annuals and even flowering shrubs not only make great garden plants but wonderful cut flowers as well. Shrubs such as hydrangea, lilac, viburnum, witchhazel and forsythia work well as cut flowers. Generally, however, shrubs don’t last as long as perennials or annuals. To make flowering shrubs last as long as possible as cut flowers, crush the ends of the stems to increase the amount of water the plant will intake.

Creating a cut flower gardens relies on choosing the appropriate plants. In the perennial border as short list of suitable cut flowers includes; astilbe, balloon flower, beebalm, chrysanthemum, coneflower, coreopsis, daffodil, delphinium, foxglove, daisy, golden thistle, iris, liatris, lily, lupine, lobelia, monkshood, peony, phlox, pinks, rose, sedum and yarrow. Most of these need the general care that any perennial flower would.

Annuals, whether planted in their own bed or mixed among other flowers in the perennial garden, are a great cut flower. Cutting them only encourages more flowers. Annuals which are recommended as cut flowers include; ageratum, aster, calendula, cleome, cosmos, dahlia, dianthus, gladiolus, gypsophila, larkspur, marigold, salvia, snapdragon and zinnia.

Be sure to plant a few shrubs or perennials for foliage and greenery which can be added to your cut flower arrangements. Arbovitae, andromeda, ferns, holly, iris, juniper and mountain laurel all make excellent additions to flower arrangements.

Cut flowers, like all plants, grow in stages. Flowers start as unopened buds, expand to fully-open flowers and then begin to decline. Avoid using fully-open perennial blooms for instant color in your arrangement; use only those flowers that are just beginning to open or to show color. These will last much longer as a cut flower. Perennial flowers should be cut just as they are opening and beginning to show color. The opposite is true of annuals; they should be fully open when cut. Roses should have buds that are slightly open and firm.

Harvest your cut flowers during the cooler parts of the day; evening is fine, as is early morning. In the afternoon sun, flowers can wilt quickly. Be sure to take along a bucket of water to put them in as you cut. Select only the healthiest flowers available.

After harvesting your cut flowers, place them out of the sun in a cool spot for a few hours in a container of warm water with floral preservative. Remove any foliage from the lower half of the stem that will be below water level. Using a sharp knife, recut the stems on an angle, removing about half an inch of stem. Warm water will increase water uptake and floral preservative will help them last longer. Also, be sure to recut the stems frequently and remove blooms as they fade.

Cut flowers have a limited life but with proper care and handling you can increase their longevity and your enjoyment.

Three Easiest Ways to get Lead and Selling Product

July 4th, 2008

One-step marketing is the most common marketing strategy used by marketers online. You send an advertisement by email, or a flyer, and expect people to immediately purchase your product or service.

This strategy totally disregards the ‘psychological buying sequence of consumers’ - and is regarded as the least effective way to market online.

It’s very much like walking up to a stranger at a party and asking ‘Would you marry me?’

What do you think the response would be? To increase conversion rates, you must develop a sales process which involves multiple contacts with your prospects. If marketers still continue that marketing strategy, of course marketers will spend much money and times useless. Let’s see obstacles below:

1. Building sand castles on the beach:
Sand castles do not last, they get wiped out by crashing waves and blowing winds. To guarantee future success for your web-business you’ll need to use strong materials to build upon.

2. Barking up the wrong tree:

If you are unaware of which paid advertising sources are actually getting good returns for your investments you’ll dry up your wallet in no time by spending too much on unproductive and worthless advertising.

How to solve the obstacles above! Many marketers don’t know how to solve them. According to us, building list is the best to choose. Questions will come to our mind how to build list as easy as possible, because many promotions offer to give guarantee that many leads will come to your site. Let’s see a strategy below:

1. A way to capture qualified leads.

To capture qualified leads is not easy. There are many marketers get many leads easy, but as matter of fact is only spam. Many third party have been planning, testing, preparing successfully building the strategy. And success
to overcome these challenges. There is a guarantee also that every member will get free qualified leads during still member.

2. A way to follow up with these leads.

What will you do after building list. Publish a Newsletter is a wisdom way. By publishing the Newsletter, you can communicate with your list and promote your product, program. Content of your Newsletter is dominant to attract your list to stay as your contact list. You can take many qualified articles from the others electronic magazine freely.

3. A way to introduce other related products to your clients and potential clients.

After publishing a Newsletter, the way to promote a product and program is opened. You can place banner Ad, word ad and stand alone solo ad on your Newsletter. Offer free ad to attract new subscribers is strategy marketing also. Amount of subscribers are dominant factor beside value of Newsletter content.

The value of your content can represent your capability to manage a Newsletter, so that you can begin to sell your advertisement. Using credit card for paying your service is easier for your customer. There is the third party will help you to solve about payment solution. It is cheaper than others and saved.

Inland Empire

July 3rd, 2008

Many are traveling over the long holiday weekend to areas outside of the Inland Empire. The 4th of July is almost here and everybody is leaving work early or taking the entire day off, to get a head start on the festivities. This means that the roads are jam packed with SUV’s and vans and lifted trucks and other vehicles that muscle their way around this area normally. No on of sound mind can say their looking forward to that. In fact many, because of poor economic conditions and the insane price of gas these days, aren’t traveling. They are choosing instead to stay local and save money.

Of the areas in southern California that are hurting the most from the depressed economic conditions, the Inland Empire is feeling it the most. The housing slump started everything off with record foreclosures every month. This was followed by the lightening quick jump in gas prices, which took out everyone’s personal petty cash and continues to do so. That means that normal working individuals can no longer afford to get their morning or early afternoon latte at Starbucks anymore because the money just isn’t there to do it anymore. In fact, Starbucks just reported that they are closing over 600 underperforming stores in the US. This is quite unprecedented for a chain that has for the past decade or two, spread like wildfire all over the world.

For the Inland Empire, people are finally starting to regret purchasing those gas guzzling trucks and spending all their money on sand toys but don’t know what to do beyond that to save money. One solution for businesses is for Inland Empire web design to improve. Once this happens on a massive scale, business investors might again see this area as a good prospect with which to bring their company into.

How to Create an Up Selling Advantage for Your Business

June 10th, 2008

Up selling your customers is simply providing the next
logical solution to your customer’s next logical need. It’s
your job to always create that next logical need and
continually sell and sell. There’s always one more thing to
sell.

One of the major mistakes I find in dealing with small
businesses is that they believe once their business has
provided their product to the customer, that’s the end of
the process. There’s nothing that can be more wrong with
your business.

Every sale needs another sale because every need that’s
satisfied will create still another need sometime in the
future. The conclusion that you should draw is that you
must create the up sell and continue creating up sells as a
never ending logical step in the launching of an effective
marketing mission.

You might say, I don’t have any product or service to sell
as an up sell. My answer to that is, develop one.

Even if you don’t produce the product or service, someone
else does and that someone else gladly will pay you for
allowing them to get at your client base so they can up sell
your customers. There’s always something else to sell them.

The practical implications to up selling will most likely
result in forming joint venture relationships. Businesses
today operate differently than it ever has.

Another good example can be seen in the mail order flowers.
On the average, there’s actually 6-10 days from the cutting
of a flower before a customer receives it and puts it in a
vase in their home, whether as a gift or simply to brighten
up their home. The lag time is caused by the traditional
distribution system of wholesalers distributors and
retailers. A real entrepreneur working literally years on
an idea for flower delivery up to 9 days, created a direct
from the grower to the customer via Federal Express. Today
that generates $10,000,000 in sales. What was the
entrepreneur’s product? It was an idea worth $10,000,000.

That business is merely a series of relationships between a
catalogue company, Federal Express, and several independent
flower growers throughout the United Slates. It’s a
business of joint ventures. Even though this guy didn’t
actually have the product or service, he created one.

This leads to find Your Business Within Your Business. A
real powerful concept is to challenge yourself, your
clients, vendors and employees to constantly search for new
businesses within your business.

There are an unlimited number of offshoot businesses you
can create. You could have an offshoot of consulting to
those people that you sell to. You could then communicate
and market and also do seminars and workshops.

For car dealers, they would provide extended warranties and
insurance to new car owners. For a contractor, whether it’s
heating and cooling, pools, pest control or whatever, they
can also provide annual service contracts.

An example would also be a pool contractor for instance
might use up selling through the offering of an annual
service contract to clean and service a pool four times a
year. This can dramatically improve his bottom line. In
fact, this can actually double the value of the customers
by added income of 40% to you while they sign an annual
contract.

Let’s say the service call for a pest control or a pool
service call is $100 and there are 100 customers per year.
There’s a gross of $10,000, which is $100 per customer. The
Up sell strategy is an annual contract where you’re going to
visit four times a year. The cost for each visit to the
customer is $100, so the total cost at this point is $400
(before giving a discount).

If they buy today, you give them a discount of $150, of
which $250 is the cost to the customer. If you close just
40% of these people, your new revenue is $10,000. 40% of
100 is 40 people times $250 which is the cost of the annual
contract.

So, the new value of these 100 customers is $20,000 $10,000
for the service call ($100 x 100 customers) and another
$10,000 for the 40 people who paid $250 for the annual
contract. The value per customer is now $200. You made
$20,000. You still have the same 100 customers. They’re now
worth $200. That’s double the value.

What service can you up sell to your clients? Virtually
every business can add a newsletter or an extra month of a
diet plan for half the original price. Maybe a consulting
service could be provided. The possibilities are endless.
Let your creative mind work for your business instead of
limiting to just one product or service.

Sell More Books on Amazon.com

June 8th, 2008

Why Should Your Book Be on Amazon.com?
Credibility. If your book is important, it should be available at the world’s biggest book store.

Visibility. People (including members of the media) will find your book and learn about you through your appearance on Amazon. (That’s how I got into Woman’s Day magazine.)

Money. You will sell books you wouldn’t have sold otherwise. Many buyers won’t buy from your Web site or other sources, but will buy at Amazon. And, Amazon pays like clockwork.

Get Your Book Listed on Amazon.com
Your publisher or distributor will handle getting your book into the Amazon catalog. If you are self-published and don’t have a distributor, join Amazon Advantage at http://www.Amazon.com/advantage

To participate in Advantage, you must have distribution rights, and your book must have a scannable barcode of the ISBN.

Amazon Marketplace
Once your book is listed, you can also sell it directly to consumers through Amazon Marketplace. You will find more information about this on the Advantage information page listed above.

Amazon Associates
Once your book is listed on Amazon, join the Associates program http://www.Amazon.com/associates

As an Associate, you get a commission on book sales referred from your Web site. Why send people to Amazon from your Web site? Some people won’t buy from you. They don’t know you and they don’t trust you. But they do trust Amazon. Or, maybe they want to qualify for free shipping.

Enhance Your Book’s Detail Page
Add cover art, book description, editorial reviews, table of contents, excerpts, author information and more. Make your book’s listing just as complete and impressive as the latest from Stephen King, John Grisham and other major authors. For more information, see Bookseller Services at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/catalog-guide/guide/-/372286/ or log in to your Advantage account. Amazon will generally not allow URLs in your content, so don’t try to slip your Web site in.

Search Inside the Book
This is controversial, but many publishers say they sell more books as a result of SITB. My sales seemed to go up after my book was in. You send Amazon a copy of your book, they scan it and make the entire book searchable. It increases the chances your book will come up during searches on the Amazon.com web site. You’ll find information on the Advantage page.

Use the tools Amazon.com provides to bring book buyers to your page and sell more books.
