Feeding Your Pocket Sugar Glider

July 10th, 2008

A pocket sugar glider is an adorable little creature that can make the perfect pet for you. They are small, fun to play with, and once you have bonded with them, they can be very friendly. Like any other pets, you should always take care of them in order to keep them healthy. Food is one of the most important issues that you should pay attention to. You should always make sure that your pocket sugar glider consumes the right food so it will stay healthy.

First of all, you need to know that sugar gliders are omnivorous creatures. They will eat virtually anything that you give them. So, you need to make sure that your pocket sugar glider does not eat the wrong food.

The most important thing is to give your pocket sugar glider the proper nutrition. Sugar gliders only need three basic types of nutrition. They are proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables and some supplements. Once you can supply your pocket sugar glider with these three types of basic nutrition, they are most likely to stay healthy.

The best food for pocket sugar gliders consists of at least 75% fruits, berries and other plants. They need all of these fruits and vegetables as their main and core foods. For the rest 25%, you can feed them with live insects, baby birds, bird eggs and other small animals.

Live insects can be found in pet shops; however, you may need to put forth some effort to find other types of fresh meat.

However, if your sugar glider eats too much fresh meat, it could develop a musky odor. Other kinds of food that you can feed your sugar glider include scrambled or hard boiled eggs and tofu. These will cover their basic needs for protein.

Pampered Pets Get a Bling Makeover From Ms. BB

Tell me Daahling, have you noticed your pet likes to pretend she
is walking the red carpet? Does she strut around the house with
head up, purrrfect posture, and tail waving high? This is pet
speak for “Look at me ~ I am a star! And, by the way, I expect
to be treated like the diva I am!”

It is, however, most unfortunate that the majority of pets can
only pretend to be glamorous. While your precious darling
helplessly drools over her canine counterparts on television,
she can only hope that you will some day answer her prayers and
make her wildest dreams come true. If you really want to please
your dog or cat, go ahead, make her day and pamper her with a
little bling. From clothing to collars, to leashes and jewelry,
your pet will shine like the star she is to you. Collars ~ A
lovely lime green collar just like her hero wore in “THE CAT IN
THE HAT” movie will surely make your pet feel like she has won
that gold statue from you. Or perhaps she would like to choose
from five other colors to express her individuality. These are
known as understated Bling - no glitz - just glamour!

Collar & Branklet Set ~ These are the latest rage for the red
carpet pet set, Daahling. The branklet slips over the front leg
and matches a collar of diamonds or rubies. For the more casual,
quiet evenings at home, your favorite canine may choose a denim
Branklet with matching collar.

Pet Purse ~ Why, you might ask, does a pet need a purse? Well,
Daahling, every star fears the unthinkable ~ that they are prey
for kidnappers who will hold them for ransom. You can help
alleviate her fears and give her (and you) piece of mind with a
purse to keep her ID in. Her fashionable purse will hang from a
color coordinated collar, and she can choose the style she likes
best from a designer line of hearts, bones, paws, or stars. This
alone will let her know she is famous in your eyes.

Charms ~ Was your best friend envious of Bruiser in the movie
“Legally Blonde II” and drooling over the crystal bone charm she
was wearing? Now you can surprise her with a colorful charm of
her own made from authentic Swarovski Crystals just like the one
Bruiser was wearing. Or, perhaps she would appreciate her
birthstone in a charm. Either way, she will surely say “bowwow”
(or “meow”) when she sees this sparkling accessory added to her
jewelry box.

Tees ~ Of course, every star’s closet should have a collection
of gem studded tees to wear around the house, for those casual
shopping trips, and for leisurely walks in the park. Let her
express herself in a tee shirt studded with “Super Star”,
“Love”, or “Rodeo Queen”. Plus, if your pampered pet allows you
to share the spotlight, you can dress in matching shirts that
tell the world her (and your) station in life is “Princess”.

Do not forget, Daahling, when your pet walks the red carpet, it
is important for her self esteem that she announce to the world
the most precious possession that you have given her ~ her name!
She will be so proud when her name is spelled out in genuine
Swarovski Austrian Crystal Stones. As she struts in front of her
audience, she will proudly dangle it from her collar, head held
high as it strategically falls slightly below her chin for all
of her fans to admire and applaud.

At the end of the day, when the applause has died down and it is
time for your star get her beauty rest, she deserves an elegant
spot to lay her pretty little head. After all, Daahling,
sleeping on the cold floor is truly beneath her now that you
recognize her as a star. Be a luv and make over her room with a
jeweled canopy bed that will be conducive to sweet dreams of
Hollywood glamour and endless days of shopping in Beverly Hills.

Remember Daahling, your reward will be the love that your star
shows you when you treat her like a million-dollar baby!

Buying Your First Horse

May 16th, 2008

Buying your first horse is an exciting adventure! Whether some one is buying the horse for you or you yourself have the money to buy a horse, you ought to carefully consider several factors.

A horse is a big investment of time, money, responsibility and commitment. A horse is not simply a pet you can welcome into your home and abandon when you go on holiday. Some one has to feed and care for your horse every day.

From a very early age I was begging my parents for horse riding lessons and soon there after for my very own horse. Neither of my parents were enthusiastic to pay for a horse. I continued with riding lessons never giving up hope and dreams of one day having my own horse. A number of years passed by and I received a small inheritance that enabled me to fulfill my dream. All I thought of was the big picture, a horse in my back yard, any horse, just get me a horse!

I learned through some tough times that there is far more to owning a horse than first meets the eye. I have listed a number of questions that I have found through the years to aid me in my decisions and thus to not be so hasty and have regrets with my choice of horse.

The first aspect to consider is why are you buying the horse? “I love horses” is a great answer, but it doesn’t really help you select a horse. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

What do you want to do with the horse? Do you want to simply spend your days going on trail rides (hacking/outrides)? Are you interested in competing with your horse? If so are you interested in western or English riding, jumping, dressage, eventing or showing? A horse destined for trail riding could cost far less than a horse who has the potential to be a successful competition horse.
Do you want to have the horse for several years or just a horse to learn with until you can afford something better?

You also need to consider the age of the horse. Thoroughbred horses are usually under the saddle at age 2 and Warm bloods are started around 3 years. If you buy a young horse it may have only had ground work introduced such as lunging and long-reining, in which case you would need to have someone back the horse. That is to put the saddle and bridle on the horse and work up to riding the horse and teaching it to move forward. Are you experienced enough that you would not need to pay someone to do this, or do you know someone who would help you for free? The answers will make your choice easier.

Aquarium Fish Health: Dealing With Cotton Mouth Disease (Mouth Fungus)

April 20th, 2008

Cotton Mouth disease also know as Mouth Fungus is a disease your fish can get and it needs to be dealt with quickly. Cotton Mouth disease is not as common as the while spot disease, but, it is highly infectious and contagious.

The victim fish shows a whitish fungus round the cheeks and lips. The lips may become swollen and rot away. Sometimes a rotten strip of lip attached only at one end will move in and out of the mouth as the fish breathes.

Fish infected with Mouth Fungus lose their appetite and their movement become sluggish. If no adequate treatment is given, the whole frontal part of the head may be eaten away finally and the fish dies.

Unless the affected fish is of consideration value, it should be killed before this fatal disease attack sthe other occupants, of the tank. Think about it… is trying to save the life of one fish worth risking the death of the rest of the fish in your aquarium?

But if you insist on keeping the fish or in case the infection has already been passed on to other occupants, the following treatment is advised:

- Swabbing the mouth of the victim fish with a soft cloth dipped in strong salt solution. Then you must then keep the patreat isolated in a bucket or jar containing a strong salt water.

- Try swabbing the lips with a 5 per cent silver mercury preparation.

- Make a solution of Terramycin or Aureomycuin by dissolving 50mg per gallon of water, a rapid cure is expected within 48 hours.

You can try all of the above remedies, but the most common remedy is the popular Methylene blue solution. To perform this remedy the sick fish should be placed in a jar, bucket or a treatment tank into which has been added a methylene per blue to colour the water deep blue.
