Annuity Brokers

April 22nd, 2008

Potential annuity holders need to shop around for insurance companies to know the rates of return available on different types of annuities. People may seek the help of annuity brokers. These brokers help potential buyers obtain information about insurance companies, premium investments and the performance of the investments in the market, etc.

Most annuity brokers maintain high standards of honor and loyalty, promoting just and equitable principles of trade. The annuity brokers are required to disclose all information to the buyer about the risk involved in taking on a particular annuity, the charges involved and the company’s financial information. They are not supposed to use any fraudulent device or malpractice to induce the buyer to invest in high-risk annuities.

The most popular annuity broker company is Annuity Advantage. Their brokers provide annuity rates and quotes covering over 300 Commercial Deposit annuities, fixed deferred annuities, equity indexed annuities and immediate annuities of more than 30 top rated insurance companies. All these annuities have no market risk, providing a steady income to the annuity holders at periodic intervals of time. For instance, the amount obtained from the sale of fixed annuities will be invested in government securities and bonds that are low risk and offer a guaranteed rate of return.

Annuity Advantage brokers do not believe in variable annuities, as the rate of return on these annuities depends on the performance of underlying investments — often subject to market risk. Most of clients of these brokers are within 20 years of retirement.

Virtual Annuity Brokers.com and AnnuityRateWatch.com also provide counseling services and database to potential annuity investors about different types of insurance companies offering different types of annuities.

Cash For Annuities provides detailed information about cash for annuities, annuity brokers, annuity buyers, annuity payments and more. Cash For Annuities is the sister site of Senior Settlements Info.

Don’t Be Scared

April 22nd, 2008

While I can safely say that I’m against excessive
internet marketing interference, sometimes even
the worst change can have a beneficial impact.

There’s a lot of information and outright scare
tactics floating around the net about FTC rules
and regulations. Straight information is a great
thing - and my guess is we all can do without
the “scare.”

The FTC has been around a long, long time. They
monitor media and advertisting affairs in the U.S.
This agency does serve a purpose - to protect
both the seller and consumer from the scam artists
of the world.

Instead of picking on this system, I’d like to
concentrate this article on why and how this
increased interest in internet marketing will
have a good impact for the rest of us.

For years now I’ve seen, and joined, outright
rip off programs on the net. I’ve had my money
stolen right out from under me after performing,
in good faith, the services I agreed to perform
upon joining.

These programs were set up for no other reason
than to scam “innocent” people out of their
hard-earned cash and head for the hills.

Yes, I do write “innocent” on purpose.

Frankly, I’m tired of people believing they
can make $14,000 by paying some total stranger
$5. Get real!

Don’t we all watch the news? Aren’t these the
filler stories networks use - where the “old”
and not so old people have been scammed out
of their life savings?

Aren’t we warned, repeatedly, that if it sounds
too good to be true… it is?!

And… Wouldn’t the internet be the next perfect
step for these same con artists.

I love marketing and advertising! I truly enjoy
helping others promote good, solid, profitable
businesses. And, owning two co-ops and publishing
my own ezine I’ve had, over the course of time,
the unfortunate “pleasure” of watching people
pour good money after bad.

I also am, unfortunately, of a mind that the
“school of hard knocks” does teach it’s pupils
hard lessons.

If you’re willing to believe some pie-in-the-sky
promise of riches beyond your wildest imagination,
especially by having to do NOTHING to make them,
don’t you deserve to be ripped off?

Sorry, that was harsh :)

But true…

The internet provides a wide open territory for
those looking to make a good, honest living from
their home.

But, you have to be willing to make the effort
to build a working model of that business, open
it, promote it, and back it up.

To faciliate the demise of these programs, and
to conform to FTC rules and regulations, I
envision not just U.S. involvement, but world-
wide unification to stamp them out.

We will all benefit when the pie-in-the-sky
programs disappear. Imagine finally receiving
only offers for legitimate ways to create wealth,
to whatever degree, online!

The Passion, the Plan, and the Pursuit

The Passion, the Plan and the Pursuit

By Monty J. Sharp, Certified Comprehensive Coach.
http://www.workteamcoaching.com

When I was much younger, I belonged to a fraternal organization much like the Boy Scouts, which taught wilderness survival skills. One of the basic skills they taught was how to build a fire. Fires are very useful not only for cooking and warmth, but also for psychological comfort - especially when you’re out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nothing but darkness.

There are three essential elements needed in order to create fire from a bunch of sticks: Heat - either from friction, a spark or a smaller flame, like a match. Fuel - the wood or other combustible material. Air - supplied by blowing or fanning to make the heat hotter and help spread the fire.

All three elements are essential. Take away just one and you have no fire.

Accomplishing a goal or realizing a dream is much like building a fire. There are three essential elements needed in order to create reality from a bunch of dreams or goals. All three are essential. Take away even one, and you have no true realization or accomplishment. They are:

Passion, a plan and pursuit.

Passion is the “heat”. It’s that spark or small flame that gets things started. Passion is also what sustains you when things get tough. It’s the love of what you’re doing or working towards. It’s the vision and motivation that continually draws you forward. Take away passion and there’s no spark to get things off the ground or you quickly lose the fervor to sustain you on the uphill climbs.

The plan is the fuel for your goals or dreams. Even if you have lots of sticks for your fire, they have to be assembled in such a way that allows the spark to “catch” and begin the process of combustion. You simply can’t stick a match under a log and expect it to begin to burn - the log is too big. You have to start with much smaller pieces of wood or straw called tinder. Once that begins to burn, you can begin to add increasingly larger pieces slowly until you have a nice warm fire.

Much in the same way, your plan has to include smaller steps or short-term goals which, when accomplished, allow the spark of your passion to catch and begin the process of realization of dreams and goals. Trying to take too large a step initially is like holding a match under a log - it’s not going catch before the match goes out.

The pursuit is the air that helps the flame of your passion burn hotter allowing you to add increasingly larger pieces of fuel (larger dreams or goals) to your “fire”. Just as you must fan the flames of your small fire to make it grow, so also you must take the necessary steps consistently and purposefully in order to achieve your dream or goal. You’ve got to “work” your plan.

Take away air and your fire quickly “smothers” leaving you with just a pile of sticks. Take away the pursuit, and all you’re left with is a pile of unfulfilled dreams.

That’s basic fire building. One more advanced step in the process is using a catalyst to help the fire catch and spread more quickly. Compounds like gasoline, pure oxygen or phosphorus are such catalysts. Can you have a fire without using them? Sure, but it’s sure lots easier to start one with them.

A personal or business coach can be the catalyst that allows you to achieve your goals and dreams much more quickly and easily than you could without them. A coach takes the spark of your passion and through powerful questions and requests, accountability systems and ongoing support helps your dreams “catch” more easily, and “burn” more fervently.

So what’s your “burning desire”? Do you have the passion? Have you made a plan? Are you pursuing your goal or dream purposefully? You must have all three in order to see your dream or goal “catch” and be able bask in the warmth of your accomplishment.

How to Choose the Right Investment

April 20th, 2008

Choosing which investment is right for is a complicated decision. While you can seek advice from financial professional, ask for tips from family and friends, and do research - in the end the decision is solely your own. This can be an extremely scary situation. However, before you may any type of investment make sure your survey your entire financial situation. Take in account your present financial needs as well as any future needs that you might be award of. Most investors should not invest in any high risk securities unless they have a solid regular income, insurance, and cash readily available in case of a financial loss. There are several basics to investing that should be taken into consideration.

The first of which is to understand that any type of investment involves risks. There is no sure thing and no one can predict the future. The next rule is to remember that the more risk involved the higher the potential profit. The opposite is also true. Low risk investment vehicles have do not offer high return rates. Make sure any company you invest in your fully understand. There are no “take backs” in investment world. Mistakes are can not be undone and therefore must be lived with.

It is also important to set investment goals before you begin to invest. Ask yourself “what do you want to accomplish with your investments? Are you saving for a vacation, early retirement, or a college fun? All these are important in determining how to diversify your stock portfolio. Goals go hand and hand with safety. Safety refers how conservative your investments will be and how likely you are to loss your original investment. If you are investing to have an income then you need to pick stocks and mutual funds which offer a consistent profit over a long term period. Growth is also another direction you may want to go. This is when the goal of your investment portfolio is long term investment which carry more risk, less safety, and provide no dividends.

Some investors are simply interested in speculation and day trading. This is a much more aggressive form of investing. Speculation stocks have a much higher risk of loss then your average stocks. For the most part speculative trading happens over short intervals of time with new and innovative companies which have yet to prove they can be successful. The risk here is that if the company takes off you have made a huge profit, however they fail, you suffer a great financial loss.

The goal of any investment portfolio is be balance. Having high risk securities for aggressive profit coupled with low risk slow money makers that are always stable. You do not have to choose a single approach. Instead use a combination of the above goals. Determine the portion of each you with your stock portfolio to be diversified in and then begin your investment endeavors. If you feel overwhelmed or simple would like some help you should seek out a financial advisor who can offer direction, experience, and great stock tips.

Quantum-less Time and Mathemathically Deprived Theory

April 20th, 2008

What would you say to me if I told you that you don’t have to be at work by 8 am, but rather that you have to be at work tomorrow?

What if I told you that your alarm clock is going to be reconfigured to only display days, and not specific times?

Would you sleep better?

Or what if your clock card was to have days, not digits, on its’ face? Would your concept of time be altered?
If your meetings schedules were week specific, how would you feel?

Would you abandon the man-made minute, if you could?

You probably would, and with little reluctance and regret.

The remaining seasons and their finite hours would still supply the exact same amount of time, but any approach to it would change.

Minute to minute hysteria would disappear.

Imagine the calendar with fewer pages, the digital watch that couldn’t work, having no digits.

The extraordinary clock views that offered a time/reference point, and the time saved by not having to view them.

Placing a freshly kneaded loaf into the oven, and taking it out, whenever, or in summer due to the uncomfortable, elevated kitchen temperature.
Or, the absence of queues and gridlock, where there would be no hurry to go nowhere.

The time would be the same but the speed and urgency would attenuate to nothing.

The microwave bell, synchronized to the moon phase, even.

Wouldn’t that be a pleasant concept, whatever about a compromised “baked Alaska”?

The pre-Christmas sales rush, replaced by a more even-tempered and annual-wide, nut gathering experience.

The 7/11 re-worded to “Open during the day, all season”.

Primitive and modern “egg-timers” would need re-engineering, with more glass and more sand. Hydraulic assistance may be needed to set it, though!

The time we made has left us short and the only constant is its absence.

A “second” compounds the issue and makes a minute, sixty times more offensive. Give me a second when you have a minute, and similar language is a common or timely response. Sports are sometimes measured in microseconds, which exaggerate everything by approximately sixty thousand, and the human eye still has a finite response time. A second, perhaps, has nothing to do with a second chance, and is unsympathetic and unrecoverable.

Presumably, it is too fast to recover, by something so slow.

If a minute was badly made, then a second and its divisions were made with over-zealous and ambitious incompetence.

If I could live for just one more second, how many I had, would have little significance.

If I could live for just one more minute, then it would be less significant by a factor of sixty; such is the perceived importance of a second.

If I could possibly live for just one more microsecond, then……..sorry…..out of time….and its implied irrelevance.

Such timely attributes and elements are of ultimate importance, when one has to dodge a well-directed bullet with an unpleasant payload. Of course, this time pressure is exacerbated when one has to tend to the microwave contents and its ill-timed bell, while such a bullet is in flight!

Having said that; and if you are still reading, then you made time where it was anyway. You simply prioritised it a little differently.

Having said all of that, I have minus eight days and 0.0000279 seconds, to attend my dental appointment.

“We made the minute; can we make the time for it?”

Laptop Brand That Seems To Be Doing Rather Good In The High Performance Laptops Arena

April 20th, 2008

Rizeon in the UK seem to be getting some positive reviews on the internet yet I had never even heard of them until searching through the laptop forums. Their whole laptop range seems to be focused on the high end of the performance scale, featuring Intel core 2 duo processors and targeted towards speed freaks and the gaming community.

Buying a Rizeon laptop is not cheap. As they are all performance focused the starting prices are in the region of £600 up but after comparing some other prices I think it’s fair to say they are some of the greatest value laptops around. Spec for spec they usually work out cheaper and they don’t even skimp on the quality of components. According to their site they include brands like Seagate, Hitachi, Kingston, Corsair and Intel. They do pride themselves on supplying highly reliable, quality laptops. Their site (www.rizeon.com/laptops/) is rather easy to use and it’s good to see the large range of upgrade options available. I’m always more inclined to custom built laptops because the standard laptops you find in retail stores just lack performance parts. I must say I’m very impressed on first impression. It’s good to see that you can buy performance notebook computers without having to pay an arm and leg like when buying from the larger manufacturers. Sure there are other manufacturers doing similar things but they seem to be targeting other niches or trying to battle with the big boys in the industry which is usually a losing battle. You do get a lot of value when buying Rizeon laptops so I would recommend checking them out.

Aquarium Fish Health: Dealing With Cotton Mouth Disease (Mouth Fungus)

April 20th, 2008

Cotton Mouth disease also know as Mouth Fungus is a disease your fish can get and it needs to be dealt with quickly. Cotton Mouth disease is not as common as the while spot disease, but, it is highly infectious and contagious.

The victim fish shows a whitish fungus round the cheeks and lips. The lips may become swollen and rot away. Sometimes a rotten strip of lip attached only at one end will move in and out of the mouth as the fish breathes.

Fish infected with Mouth Fungus lose their appetite and their movement become sluggish. If no adequate treatment is given, the whole frontal part of the head may be eaten away finally and the fish dies.

Unless the affected fish is of consideration value, it should be killed before this fatal disease attack sthe other occupants, of the tank. Think about it… is trying to save the life of one fish worth risking the death of the rest of the fish in your aquarium?

But if you insist on keeping the fish or in case the infection has already been passed on to other occupants, the following treatment is advised:

- Swabbing the mouth of the victim fish with a soft cloth dipped in strong salt solution. Then you must then keep the patreat isolated in a bucket or jar containing a strong salt water.

- Try swabbing the lips with a 5 per cent silver mercury preparation.

- Make a solution of Terramycin or Aureomycuin by dissolving 50mg per gallon of water, a rapid cure is expected within 48 hours.

You can try all of the above remedies, but the most common remedy is the popular Methylene blue solution. To perform this remedy the sick fish should be placed in a jar, bucket or a treatment tank into which has been added a methylene per blue to colour the water deep blue.

Doing Your Holiday Shopping On Ebay.

April 18th, 2008

Most people do far more shopping in the holiday season than they do for the rest of the year - and now you know how to use eBay, why not do it there? If you know what kind of thing your friends and family like then eBay’s categories are ideal places to get ideas. Plus, you won’t have to fight your way through the holiday rush when you’re getting everything posted to you at home!

Buying Presents for People.

Here’s how I do it: think of the last thing the person you’re buying a present for bought for themselves. Type it into eBay’s search engine. Now take a look at which category it’s in, and click the link to look at everything in the category. Straight away, you have a huge list of things that they’re probably be happy to receive - and if you know them well, you should have no trouble picking through to find something really special.

Look at Their eBay Histories.

If the people you’re buying presents for use eBay, and you know their eBay usernames, then you can take a look at what they’ve been buying to see what they might want. To look at a user’s history, just click ‘Advanced Search’ on the main page, then Find a Member on the left-hand menu. Type in their username and you should reach their user page, complete with all the item numbers of things they have bought. Just paste any item number into the eBay search box to see what the item was. That should give you a few ideas!

Shop in Advance.

It’s a bad idea to use eBay for your holiday shopping at the very last minute - prices will be high, and items might not turn up in time. Every year there’s a present that children want so much that all the shops sell out, and it starts appearing on eBay at a premium. Parents then pay hundreds of dollars and still don’t get one in time for the big day. Don’t fall into this trap.

Remember You’re in Silly Season.

The holiday season is peak time at eBay - loads of people are there, and they’re often inexperienced, bidding things up far higher than they should. Try not to end up paying far too much for an item just because it’s the last one that would turn up in time, or because everyone else is bidding too high. You should always know when to cut your losses, stop bidding and just go get something from the shop instead.

Have Fun!

Don’t take eBay too seriously - treat it like a game, and don’t be too disappointed if you lose. It can sometimes feel like gambling, but when you get that really rare and special thing in the post, it’s all worth it.

That’s it for our series of emails about buying on eBay: I hope you learned something, and good luck in your eBay future. By now, though, you might have started to think it would be interesting to try selling a few things on eBay yourself. Well, you’re not alone. Go ahead and sign up now for our emails about selling things on eBay. See you there!

Firewire Hard Disks

April 18th, 2008

Firewire is a technogy for transferring data between computers or their periphial devices like external hard disk drives. In the early 1990’s Apple developed the technology that became Firewire. Its technical name is IEEE 1394, and there are a few updates that have improved transfer rates. The original was capable of about 100-400 Mb/s on a cable up to 14 feet in length.

Firewire made its debut on the PowerMac G3 and has since spread to many other products and computers. Its popularity was due to its simplicity and its great speed. USB was the closest competitor and it only claimed data transfer rates of about 12 Mb/s. The only problem was that USB had originally been made for all personal computers, not just Apple, and it had been out first so it was already in use. Firewire was widely used in the entertainment business and actually won 2001 Primetime Emmy Engineering Award in 2001 for the impact that it had.

Using Firewire for an external hard disk is a great application of the technology. The cord is relatively small so that portability can be maximized. Now, more than ever, we are sharing information and that means we need ways to carry it. A Firewire drive also offers an easy expansion to your current computer. Hard disks’ failure rate goes up extensively when they are filled with data beyond 70% of their capacity. A problem with these types of disk drives is that you do need to supply the power. This adds another plug to your already cluttered power strip and the cord needs to be carried with it if you would like to use it on a remote computer.

Firewire is now a very fast transfer rate that has had a couple of updates since its emergence. The first was named IEEE 1384-1995 in 1995, and it was not improved upon until 2000 with the release of IEEE 1384-2000. The newest version, IEEE 1384b is capable of speeds up to 800 Mb/s and is the current standard in Firewire technology.

The Benefits of Sunless Tanning Sprays

April 18th, 2008

Some people desire enough of a tan for just one occasion such as an evening out. Some people look at all options available in sunless tanning products and decide to tan the old-fashioned way, after all. For those who opt for a traditional, sun-induced tan, caution and protective measures are recommended.

Currently, sunless tanning spray can be found at high-end salons or spas and can anywhere from $25 per session to up to $100 for a few one-hour sessions. Sunless tanning spray contains dihydroxyacetone (DHA). DHA is applied in a fine mist to the entire body of the customer. DHA reacts with dead skin cells on the surface of the body, causing them to turn brown. Most tanners who use the spray method report good, realistic results and excellent coverage. The spray on tans last five to seven days, typically.

Sunless tanning spray is either water or oil based. The former is recommended for people with sensitive skin. The FDA has approved DHA as safe since the 1970s. It is colorless — the color change in tanners’ skin is chemical — but may at first emit a slight odor, which should disappear after showering. It will not stain clothing.

Sunless tanning spray is not recommended for people with dry and flaky skin or for people with very fair skin. In the case of those with dry skin, a spray tan may end up looking patchy, due to the accelerated shedding of dead skin cells. For those with fair skin, the tan may end up looking too dark or otherwise awkward.

Moisturizing can optimize the life of a spray tan. Other preparations to take are to exfoliate before having sunless tanning spray applied, avoiding showering for at least four hours before the tanning session, and avoiding physical activity for a short while after the spray tan is applied. The better precautions are taken and the more diligently aftercare is pursued, the better the results of a spray tan will be.

Sunless Tanning Info provides detailed information about sunless tanning lotion, booths, sprays, salons, and pills, as well as reviews of best sunless tanning products and methods. Sunless Tanning Info is the sister site of Tanning Beds Web.
